Round 21 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Criollos (16-9). They were defeated by sixth ranked Osos (10-16) 98-89 on Thursday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Criollos. Manati made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. American forward Kristian Doolittle (201-1997, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Mali power forward Cheick Diallo (206-1996, college: Kansas) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was American point guard Travis Trice II (183-1993, college: Michigan St.) with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists. Criollos' coach rotated thirteen players in this game, but that didn't help. Manati maintains sixth place with 10-16 record. Caguas at the other side dropped to the second position with nine games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by San German. Caguas will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Manati will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Aguada on the road.
Important game to mention about took place in Manati. Sixth ranked Osos (10-16) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Cangrejeros (11-14) 95-93 on Saturday evening. Americans were the main players on the court. point guard Jameer Nelson Jr (185-2000, college: TCU) nailed 39 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and Kristian Doolittle accounted for 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Davon Jefferson (203-1986, college: USC) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for Santurce in the defeat. Cangrejeros' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Manati maintains sixth place with 10-16 record. Santurce at the other side keeps the fifth position with 14 games lost. Manati will play against higher ranked Aguada (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santurce will have a break next round.

Capitanes' coach let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Leones have a solid series of three victories in a row. Ponce maintains fourth place with 11-16 record. Arecibo lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with eight games lost. Ponce will meet Quebradillas (#6) on the road in the next round. Arecibo will play against the league's leader Bayamon (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 21: Carolina won against Mayaguez on the opponent's court 91-86. San German managed to outperform Quebradillas in a home game 97-88. Aguada recorded a loss to Ponce on the road 98-91. Guaynabo lost to defending champion Bayamon on its own court 91-103.




Ponce - Arecibo 101-92

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Capitanes (14-8) against fourth ranked Leones (11-16) on Thursday night. Visiting Capitanes were defeated by Leones in a tough game in Ponce 92-101. They made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991) who scored 35 points (!!!). American center Thomas Robinson (203-1991, college: Kansas) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Derrick Walton Jr (185-1995, college: Michigan) who recorded 7 points and 12 assists and international forward RJ Melendez (201-2002, college: MSU) added 17 points respectively. Rather expected game in Mayaguez where 5th ranked Indios (9-15) were defeated by third ranked Gigantes (15-10) 91-86 on Friday. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Tremont Waters (180-1998, college: LSU, agency: Shark Sports Management) who scored 24 points. American guard Jaylen Nowell (193-1999, college: Washington) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists. Gigantes' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Australian guard Nathan Sobey (190-1990, college: Wyoming) who recorded 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American point guard Eugene German (183-1997, college: NIU) added 26 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gigantes have a solid series of three victories in a row. Carolina maintains third place with 15-10 record having 2 victories less than leader San German. Loser Indios keeps the fifth position with 15 games lost. Very predictable result in San German where first ranked Atleticos (17-9) defeated 6th ranked Piratas (8-18) 97-88 on Friday. San German outrebounded Quebradillas 34-22 including 26 on the defensive glass. San German shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 63.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Andre Curbelo (183-2001, college: Southern Miss) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. American power forward Nick Perkins (203-1996, college: Buffalo) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Atleticos players scored in double figures. Atleticos' coach Eddie Casiano used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was DR Congolese guard Emmanuel Mudiay (196-1996) who recorded 25 points and 5 assists and American-Italian forward Grant Basile (206-2000, college: Virginia Tech) added 21 points respectively.
